Even though summer isn’t quite here in Chicago yet, I would like to post some marvelous pictures of outdoor spaces. I know not all of us have the fortune to have a patio or a porch, but look closely around your home, maybe a little place close to a window, add a couple of touches from the following picture and create your own summer escape!

A wicker chair, a pot with aromatic herbs, and a glass of wine will do!

Today I wanted to post a picture of a recent work. This terrarium is a small representation of what I consider a Zen space. The simplicity of the design and the placement of the elements offers a sense of calm and invite to a moment of silence and meditation.

I am fascinated by the floors in the picture bellow. They are made of chipped granite (I wonder if they were placed one at a time?) This is certainly inspiration for a terrarium.

I also love the accent pathway in the following picture, and the grass is also very intriguing, almost like hair:

Escape

Sometimes it is not necessary to go away to escape from the routines of life. An escape is just a mental stage, an attitude that can be reached anywhere, anytime.

Maybe staging a tiny corner of our home, and dedicate it as our own personal sanctuary could be helpful. A sacred place for silence, meditation, or simply a place where you can curl up with a book, a cup of tea and enjoy a lovely, peaceful and well deserved afternoon.

Here a few pictures to inspire you.

Following my last post on Topiaries, I would like to add that topiaries prove to be timeless. They work just as well in modern settings as in more traditional ones.

I love the blue pot in this picture. It really brings a bit of cool to the rustic space.

Isn’t that amazing that someone actually took the time and effort to make an otherwise boring hallway into this stunning Moroccan inspired scape.

I am so intrigued by the wall’s texture, I imagine they are made of of clay. But I am even more intrigued by the captivating and distinctive cactuses (plural: Cacti, cactuses or cactus)

Welcome back,

I am loving these gorgeous topiaries posted in one of my favorite blogs: Desire to Inspire. The designer has several of them all around the house. The little ones in the bathroom are just adorable, specially when grouped, they really bring something special to the already marvelous room.

Welcome to alapash.

For all of you who might be wondering: what does “alapash” mean? the answers is very simple.

Some time ago, back home in Peru, I friend and I used to go through wonderful magazines filled with amazing pictures of places all around the world. These pictures were like little windows, escapes from the everyday routine, which would transport us to places of pure tranquility, and luxury. We called these places and moments “alapash”

So there you have it, “alapash” simply put means escape, luxury, peace of mind, love for life.

This blog is intended for all f you who are looking for a little break during the day in which you want to escape from your desk or home chores, and take a trip with me to these places of tranquility. Enjoy!
